About
Robert Ariza is an American stage and television actor born on April 6, 1990, in Queens, New York. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan, where he preceded his professional career after graduating from LaGuardia Arts High School, where he majored in Voice. His introduction to musical theatre came during his teenage years at a drama camp, where he appeared in a production of Footloose.
Before establishing himself on Broadway, Ariza spent three seasons with Musical Theatre Wichita, a summer theatre company in Kansas, beginning in 2012. His debut season there included ensemble roles in Fiddler on the Roof, 9 to 5, HONK!, and Singin' in the Rain, as well as the role of Padaman/Nikos in Legally Blonde. In 2013, he took on the role of Courfeyrac in Les Misérables alongside ensemble work in Mary Poppins and The King and I, and played Francis Lockwood in Betty Blue Eyes. His 2014 season encompassed several named roles, including Professor in South Pacific, Chino in West Side Story, Butler in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, FBI Agent Johnny Dollar in Catch Me If You Can, and Bert Barry in 42nd Street.
Ariza made his Broadway debut in 2015 as a swing in Deaf West's revival of Spring Awakening, for which he learned American Sign Language. Following that production, he joined the North American tour of Les Misérables in 2017, playing Marius. In 2020, he performed in the Chicago production of Hamilton. His stage work also includes a production of Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 in Shanghai.
Ariza's Broadway credits span 2015 to 2025 and include Hamilton, Spring Awakening, Les Misérables, and Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical. In February 2026, it was announced that he would return to Broadway in Operation Mincemeat as an understudy for Charles Cholmondeley and Others and Hester Leggatt and Others, as part of the production's first all-American cast.
