About

William Riley Hatch, born September 2, 1862, in Cleveland, Ohio, was an American actor and singer who built a career across stage and silent film during the early decades of the twentieth century.

Hatch made his Broadway debut in The Burgomaster in 1900, launching a stage career that would span more than two decades. Among his notable Broadway productions were Coming Thro' The Rye, The Squaw Man, The Master Mind, and The Nervous Wreck, the last of which marked his final Broadway appearance in 1923.

Alongside his stage work, Hatch pursued an active career in silent films. His screen credits include At Shiloh (1913), The City (1916), A Case at Law (1917), The Law of the Land (1917), Eve's Daughter (1918), Sheltered Daughters (1921), and Zaza (1923).

Hatch died of heart disease on September 6, 1925, at his home on Long Island.
