Richard Oberacker is an American composer, lyricist, playwright, and conductor whose work spans Broadway, theatrical productions, and live entertainment. He is perhaps best recognized for his collaboration with writing partner Robert Taylor on the musical Bandstand, for which he served as composer and co-writer in addition to contributing as a book writer.
Bandstand represents Oberacker's most prominent Broadway credit. The production earned him two Drama Desk Award nominations in 2017, one for Outstanding Book of a Musical and one for Outstanding Music, recognizing the breadth of his contributions to the show across both its narrative and musical dimensions.
Beyond Broadway, Oberacker has maintained a significant presence in large-scale live entertainment through his work with Cirque du Soleil. He has served as a conductor for the company's Las Vegas production Kà and has been involved with additional Cirque du Soleil projects including Dralion and Worlds Away.
