About
Richard Karron, born Richard Karant on April 11, 1934, in the Bronx, New York, was an American actor recognized for his distinctive voice. He died on March 1, 2017. His parents were Samuel and Gertrude Karant.
Before entering the entertainment industry, Karron served in the Army during the Korean War for eight years, during which time he served as an Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He subsequently worked as a salesman. His acting career began after Dustin Hoffman discovered him performing at Catch a Rising Star in New York City.
Karron's stage work included a Broadway appearance in 1974 in All Over. His career extended across stage, television, film, and voice work, and he remained active in the industry into his late sixties and early seventies. Among his film credits are History of the World: Part I, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, and Fatso.
Karron married his wife, Judy, in September 2001. The couple later relocated from New York to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, where he became involved in Canines for Service and self-recovery programs.
