Gustavus Remak Ramsay, born February 2, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, is an American actor whose career has spanned stage, film, and television. The son of Caroline V. Ramsay, née Remak, and John Breckinridge Ramsay, he built a Broadway career stretching from 1965 to 1995.

Ramsay made his Broadway debut in the 1965–66 production of Half a Sixpence, playing Young Walshingham. He went on to appear in a succession of productions through the late 1960s and 1970s, including Lovely Ladies as Captain McLean, Sheep on the Runway as Edward Snelling, and On the Town as Ozzie, all in 1970 and 1971. He played Archie in Jumpers in 1974 and Victor Prynne in Private Lives in 1975. Later in the decade he appeared as Cocklebury-Smythe, M.P. in Dirty Linen & New-Found-Land in 1977 and as Durwood Peach in Landscape of the Body in 1978.

His work in the 1980s brought significant recognition. Ramsay played the First Actor in The Dining Room in 1981, a performance that earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Play. A second Drama Desk nomination in the same category followed in 1983 for his work in Quartermaine's Terms. He also starred as Anthony Anderson in The Devil's Disciple in 1988. His Broadway career continued into the 1990s with the role of Max Bernheim in Nick & Nora in 1991, Chaplain de Stogumber in Saint Joan in 1993, and two productions in 1995: The Heiress, in which he played Dr. Austin Sloper, and The Molière Comedies, in which he appeared as Ariste and Gorgibus. He also appeared in The School for Husbands during his Broadway tenure.

Ramsay's film work includes Hennessey in The Front in 1976, Kennedy in Class in 1983, Senator Byington in Shadows and Fog in 1988, Virgil Barron in Mr. & Mrs. Bridge in 1990, Principal Stillwater in King of the Hill in 1993, Professor Wells in Addicted to Love in 1997, and John McWilliams in Julie & Julia in 2009. On television, he portrayed Dean Acheson in the 1995 film Truman and appeared in Law & Order in 2000 as Ambassador Peter Sarno and in Law & Order: Criminal Intent in 2002 as Doug Lafferty.
