Raynor Scheine, born Raynor Johnston on January 19, 1942, is an American actor whose career has spanned stage, film, television, and voice work. A native of Emporia, Virginia, he studied at Virginia Commonwealth University. His stage name is a play on the phrase "rain or shine."
Scheine made his Broadway debut on March 27, 1988, in August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone, playing the role of Rutherford Selig. The production ran through June 26, 1988. He returned to Broadway in another August Wilson play, Gem of the Ocean, again portraying Rutherford Selig. That production ran from December 6, 2004, through February 6, 2005. His Broadway work also includes a role as Elijah in Inherit the Wind.
On screen, Scheine has accumulated film credits dating back to 1979, appearing in features that include My Cousin Vinny and Fried Green Tomatoes. His television work covers several decades and includes guest appearances on The Cosby Show, L.A. Law, The West Wing, Sliders, Third Watch, ER, The District, Deadwood, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, among others.
Scheine has also contributed voice performances to a number of video games, including Dark Reign: The Future of War, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Red Dead Revolver, and BioShock.
