Ray Buktenica

Ray Buktenica is an American actor born on August 6, 1943, in New York, New York. Working primarily in film and television since 1972, he built a career as a character actor before retiring from the profession.

Buktenica is perhaps most recognized for his recurring role as Benny Goodwin on the 1970s sitcom Rhoda, in which the character served as the boyfriend and later fiancé of Brenda Morgenstern. He also portrayed Dr. Solomon on House Calls and Jerry Berkson, the boss of the character Libby, on Life Goes On. His television work extended into voice acting, including the role of Hugo Strange in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne."

Guest appearances across multiple decades rounded out his television career. In 1996, Buktenica appeared on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman as Leo Nunk, a newspaper reporter. The following year, he guest-starred on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in the episode "By Inferno's Light," playing Deyos, the Vorta commanding the Dominion's Internment Camp 371.

In 1979, Buktenica brought his talents to the Broadway stage, appearing in They're Playing Our Song. Beyond his professional work, he and actress Joyce DeWitt maintained a relationship from 1973 to 1980, during which time the two appeared together on multiple episodes of the television game show Tattletales.
