R. Martin Klein is an American actor whose work spans theater, film, and voice performance. He has been active across multiple decades, building credits in Broadway productions, animated series, feature films, and video games. In his earlier dubbing work during the 1990s, he performed under the alias Bob Marx.
Klein made his Broadway appearance in 1977, performing in the original production of Annie. His stage work represents one dimension of a career that has extended broadly into voice acting for both domestic and internationally adapted animated properties.
Among his most recognized voice roles is Gomamon and its evolved forms Bukamon and Ikkakumon in the Digimon franchise, a role he has reprised across multiple series and films including Digimon: Digital Monsters, Digimon Data Squad, Digimon Fusion, Digimon: The Movie, Digimon Adventure tri., and Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. He also voiced Professor Takenouchi in Digimon Adventure 02 and Toshiaki Mori in Digimon Tamers. In the video game Digimon All-Star Rumble, he provided voices for Gomamon, Plesiomon, Aegisdramon, Tentomon, MegaKabuterimon, and TyrantKabuterimon.
Beyond Digimon, Klein is known for voicing Katsuhiko Jinnai in El Hazard and Fukurou in Noein. Klein's non-anime voice work includes roles in the Animalia series, the LeapFrog DVD series as Edison the Firefly, credited as Robert Mark Klein, and Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace, in which he voiced Chancellor Palpatine, Darth Sidious, and a Republic Guard. He also provided an uncredited voice for Power Rangers in Space. In feature film voice work, he appeared in Perfect Blue as Mr. Me-Mania, The Little Polar Bear, and A Martian Christmas, the latter credited as Robert Mark Klein. He voiced Tony in Alpha and Omega 2: A Howl-iday Adventure and Alpha and Omega 4: The Legend of the Saw Tooth Cave under the name Bill Lader, and appeared in the DVD extended version of Meet the Fockers as Moe Focker. His video game credits include Harald Hoerwick and Marlo in the .hack series and Lias Warren in Star Ocean: First Departure.
