Phillip Richard Allen (March 26, 1939 – March 1, 2012) was an American actor who worked across stage, film, and television throughout a career spanning several decades. He trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, where he performed in Edward Albee's Zoo Story and the Pulitzer Prize-winning play That Championship Season, earning best acting awards for both productions.

Allen's Broadway work included That Championship Season, in which he played Tom Daley during the 1973–74 run. His stage career extended well beyond Broadway, encompassing productions such as Sticks and Bones and Quietus in 1972, Harvey, in which he portrayed Dr. Lyman Sanderson, and Are You There or Have You Ever Been? in 1974. He later appeared in The Normal Heart, playing Ben Weeks in the 1985 production, as well as Rain from Heaven in 1987 and Zoo Story in 1990.

On screen, Allen became a recognizable presence in American television during the 1970s and 1980s, holding recurring roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Bad News Bears. His guest appearances spanned a wide range of series, including Dark Shadows, The Doctors, The Bob Newhart Show, Happy Days, Kojak, Eight Is Enough, The Tony Randall Show, Quincy M.E., C.P.O. Sharkey, Baretta, Dallas, Matlock, The Fall Guy, and Law & Order. In film, he appeared in Midway, The Onion Field, Mommie Dearest, and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, in which he played Captain Esteban.

Allen died on March 1, 2012, at the age of 72. He was survived by his daughter Debbie Morton, his son Kim Allen, and his son, actor Keegan Allen.
