About
Philip Hahn (1884 – August 4, 1976) was an American actor whose career spanned both the Broadway stage and silent film. Before pursuing performance, Hahn worked as a painter in Amsterdam, a vocation he abandoned after losing his color vision.
Hahn made his Broadway appearance in 1910, with his stage credits including the production Naughty Marietta.
His work in silent film encompassed a range of roles across multiple productions in the 1910s. He took the lead in The Price He Paid (1914), a film adapted from a poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox, and also appeared that same year in The Nightingale. Subsequent film appearances included The Garden of Lies (1915), The Bachelor's Romance (1915), and The Senator (1915), in which he portrayed Count Ernst von Strahl. Hahn continued working in film through 1916 and 1917, appearing in The Woman's Law, The Scarlet Oath (also released under the title The Other Sister), and Playing with Fire.
