Peter Lockyer

Peter Lockyer is an American actor and tenor born in Poughkeepsie, New York, who spent his childhood dividing time between Toronto and Connecticut. He attended the same high school as actress Gretchen Mol. His Broadway career spans from 1987 to 2013 and includes productions such as The Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, La Bohème, Chicago, and Cyrano.

On Broadway, Lockyer played Chris Scott in Miss Saigon, Billy Flynn in Chicago, and Ubaldo Piangi in The Phantom of the Opera, where he also served as an understudy for the roles of the Phantom, Raoul, and André. In La Bohème, he understudied the role of Rodolfo, and he appeared in Les Misérables as Marius Pontmercy. In 1993, he appeared on television alongside Bette Midler in an adaptation of Gypsy.

Lockyer's work extended beyond Broadway to international and touring productions. He played Jean Valjean in the 25th anniversary US tour of Les Misérables, a role he had previously performed in a Hawaiian production of the show that he also directed. From 2014 to 2016, he reprised Valjean at the Queen's Theatre in London's West End. He has additionally performed in Les Misérables in China and South Korea, appeared in 42nd Street in Europe, and took part in the European tour of Barbra Streisand's Broadway Boys.

Between performing engagements, Lockyer earned dual master's degrees, which qualified him to teach in New York City. Following that period away from the stage, he returned to acting. More recently, he performed the role of Tom in The Glass Menagerie at the Ivoryton Playhouse in Connecticut, the state where he grew up.
