About
Peter Grosz is an American actor and television writer born in New York City and raised in Scarsdale, New York. He attended Northwestern University, graduating in 1996, where his roommates included fellow actor Seth Meyers. During his youth, Grosz attended Camp Greylock in Massachusetts, where he served as a Red & Grey captain.
Grosz is widely recognized for his long-running role in Sonic Drive-In's "Two Guys" advertising campaign, in which he played the straight man opposite improvisational comedian T. J. Jagodowski. His involvement with the campaign ran from 2002 to 2012 and resumed in 2014. In 2020, Sonic announced a shift in its advertising direction, though the company's Chief Marketing Officer, Lori Abou Habib, indicated that the "Two Guys" format would remain part of the brand going forward. Grosz and Jagodowski also appeared together on screen in the 2006 film Stranger Than Fiction.
His television writing career included a staff position at The Colbert Report from 2007 to 2010, during which he made multiple on-screen appearances in various roles, among them the Time-Travelling Brandy Thief and McGnaw the Gluten-Free Beaver. His departure from the writing staff was confirmed on his Facebook page following the May 13, 2010 episode. In 2014, Grosz joined the writing staff of Late Night with Seth Meyers. On December 18, 2018, he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert portraying Stephen Miller in a sketch referencing Miller's appearance on Face the Nation.
As an actor, Grosz recurred across four of the first five seasons of the HBO comedy series Veep, portraying oil lobbyist Sidney Purcell. He also played Mike Pence on The President Show. Grosz has additionally appeared as a panelist and guest host on the NPR program Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!
In April 2023, Grosz made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning play Good Night, Oscar, in which he portrayed Robert Sarnoff, President of NBC, appearing opposite Tony Award winner Sean Hayes.
