Pearce Quigley is an English actor born on 16 May 1965, whose work spans stage, television, and film. He made his Broadway appearance in 2008 in The Seagull, a production he had also performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London.
Quigley's stage career encompasses a wide range of companies and venues. His Royal Court credits include Blue Heart, Rat in the Skull, and Road, the last of which was produced by Out of Joint. That company also employed him in Shopping and Fucking, which played at the Gielgud Theatre, the Queen's Theatre, and on an international tour, as well as in The Queen and I at the Vaudeville Theatre and on an Australian tour. At the RSC he appeared in A Jovial Crew, The Winter's Tale, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and The Changeling. His Globe Theatre work includes Doctor Faustus, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, and Twelfth Night. Additional theatre credits include Paul at the National Theatre, Journey's End at the Comedy Theatre, My Night with Reg and Dealer's Choice at Birmingham Rep, Rope at Birmingham Rep, Feelgood at the Hampstead and Garrick theatres, Abingdon Square for Shared Experience, and Der Neue Menoza at the Gate Theatre.
On television, Quigley appeared in the series Pie in the Sky and the comedy Happiness, which ran from 2001 to 2003, followed by the drama Cutting It from 2002 to 2005. His film work includes Millions in 2004 and Born Equal in 2006. He appeared in Within the Whirlwind in 2009 and The Way Back in 2010, the latter alongside Ed Harris, Saoirse Ronan, and Colin Farrell. Further screen credits include Breaking the Bank in 2014, Rovers in 2016, and Peterloo in 2018, which featured Rory Kinnear. He also appeared in 15 Storeys High in 2004 and had a role in Peter Kay's Car Share.
From 2014 to 2022, Quigley played Russell in the BBC television sitcom Detectorists. In December 2021 he portrayed the Ghost of Christmas Present in the BBC special We Wish You a Mandy Christmas. In 2023 he appeared in The Full Monty and played Albie in Episode 3 of The Reckoning. In 2026 he took the starring role in Small Prophets, written and directed by Mackenzie Crook. Quigley is also a regular cast member of the BBC Radio 4 sitcom Alone, in which he plays Will, and portrays John "The Gospel" Dixon in The Gentlemen.
Quigley is the godfather of Johnny "Doghead" Hutch, drummer in the band Fat Dog.
