About

Patti Murin, born September 28, 1980, in Hopewell Junction, New York, is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She attended John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction before enrolling at Syracuse University, where she majored in musical theatre and was a member of the Syracuse Orange cheerleading squad, graduating in 2002.

Murin began her professional career in regional theatre, with an early credit as Polly Baker in Crazy for You in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her Off-Broadway debut came in 2005 with York Theatre Company's staged concert of Mirette, a musical with book by Elizabeth Diggs and music and lyrics by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. She subsequently played Belle in a national tour of Beauty and the Beast in 2006.

Her Broadway debut came in 2007 in the musical Xanadu, where she joined the production as a swing and understudy before taking over the leading role of Clio/Kira. During the run of Xanadu, she married her co-star Curtis Holbrook in 2009; the two later divorced in 2013. Murin returned to Broadway in 2011 to originate the title role in Lysistrata Jones. Between Broadway engagements, she played Glinda Upland in the first national tour of Wicked from 2012 to 2013.

Murin originated the role of Princess Anna in the Broadway production of Frozen, which opened at the St. James Theatre in March 2018. Her involvement with the production predated the Broadway opening, as she had participated in workshops and the 2017 out-of-town tryout at the Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado. She played her final performance as Anna on Broadway on February 16, 2020. In 2025, she reprised the role in a production of Frozen at the Muny in St. Louis, Missouri.

Alongside her stage work, Murin joined the cast of the NBC medical drama Chicago Med in 2016, playing pathologist Dr. Nina Shore in a recurring capacity through 2019. She also appeared in the Hallmark Channel film Love on Iceland, which aired in January 2020, alongside her husband Colin Donnell. Murin and Donnell, who met as co-stars in Love's Labour's Lost, married on June 19, 2015, in New York City. In 2022, the two released a joint album titled Something Stupid on Broadway Records, produced by Robbie Rozelle, co-produced by Yasuhiko Fukuoka, and arranged and orchestrated by Luke Williams.

Murin and Donnell have two daughters. Their first, Cecily, was born on July 14, 2020. In October 2022, the couple announced a second pregnancy, and their daughter Lorelai was born on April 2, 2023.
