Daniel Patrick Harrington Sr. was born on February 6, 1901, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and went on to establish himself as a working stage and television actor over several decades. He died on September 2, 1965, in East Islip, New York.
Harrington made his Broadway debut in Panama Hattie in 1940, launching a stage career that spanned more than two decades. His subsequent Broadway appearances included the patriotic revue Star and Garter in 1942, The Front Page in 1946, and Call Me Madam in 1950. He continued performing on Broadway into the following decade, with credits that included Harbor Lights, The Live Wire, The Good Soup, and Sunday in New York in 1961.
Beyond the stage, Harrington appeared in early American television, taking roles in the series A Couple of Joes in 1949 and Wonderful John Acton in 1953.
He was the father of actor Pat Harrington Jr.
