About
Paige Davis is an American actress, television personality, and Broadway performer born on October 15, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended Charles H. Bird Elementary School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, later lived in Louisville, Kentucky, where she graduated from the Louisville Youth Performing Arts School, and subsequently earned a degree from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Her training has centered on musical theater and dance.
Davis spent two and a half years in the national touring company of Beauty and the Beast, performing the role of Babette the Feather Duster during her second year with the production. During portions of that period she was credited as Mindy Paige Benson. While working in Los Angeles she also appeared in television commercials and videos.
Her Broadway career spanned 1995 to 2013 and included roles in Chicago, Boeing-Boeing, Sweet Charity, and The Sleeping Beauty and the Beast. In Chicago she played Roxie Hart. In mid-2007 she joined the national touring production of the Broadway revival of Sweet Charity, taking over the title role from Molly Ringwald and continuing through the end of the scheduled run on August 12, 2007. In 2008 and 2009 she played Gloria in the Broadway revival of Boeing-Boeing. Davis also developed a cabaret act by 2007 titled Taking A Chance, described as chronicling how the choices she made informed her life's loves.
In 2001, Davis became the host of the TLC cable network's home redecorating series Trading Spaces, replacing Alex McLeod. That same year she married actor Patrick Page, with whom she had appeared in Beauty and the Beast, and their wedding was featured on the TLC series A Wedding Story. TLC removed Davis from Trading Spaces in January 2005, describing the change as taking the show in a new creative direction. The network and Davis both stated there was no connection between that decision and media controversies that had arisen around her at the time. Following her departure she signed a multi-year agreement with King World Productions/CBS to develop scripted and reality programming, though none of those projects reached air. TLC announced in November 2007 that Davis would return as host beginning in January 2008. She also hosted segments and interviews for The Best of Trading Spaces, which debuted in January 2011 on OWN. On July 19, 2017, Good Morning America announced Davis would host the Trading Spaces reboot, which premiered on April 7, 2018.
Davis hosted the morning talk show Home and Family on Hallmark Channel in 2012 and joined the home improvement series Home Made Simple as host in October 2011. Additional television appearances included a guest judging role on Food Network's Iron Chef America in the episode Battle Egg in 2004 and a contestant appearance on the CBS summer 2006 series Gameshow Marathon.
During her initial run on Trading Spaces, Davis wrote the book Paige by Paige, chronicling her television experiences, which spent multiple weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list. In 2014 she premiered the role of Senga Quinn in Mark St. Germain's Dancing Lessons at Barrington Stage. In 2017 she played the title role in Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating, and Marriage for the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, and in 2018 she played the title character in Mame at North Shore Music Theater in Massachusetts. On February 8, 2022, Davis was announced in the title role of Pioneer Theatre Company's production of Hello, Dolly!, directed and choreographed by Artistic Director Karen Azenberg, with performances scheduled from May 13 to May 28, 2022, in Salt Lake City.
Davis served as a spokesperson for RC Willey Home Furnishings, a Berkshire-Hathaway subsidiary with locations in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and California, ending that affiliation upon her return to Trading Spaces in 2018. In September 2008, Eastman Kodak Company formed a partnership with Trading Spaces and Davis, with Davis serving as Kodak's celebrity spokesperson through March 2009, contributing to television spots, online content, videos, and a custom-published magazine.
