Omar Metwally

Omar Metwally is an American actor born in Queens, New York, to an Egyptian father and a Dutch mother. His family relocated to Orange County, California, when he was three years old, where he was raised. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of California, Berkeley, and subsequently completed a Master of Fine Arts in acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, during which time he performed in productions around the Bay Area.

Metwally made his Broadway debut in 2004 in Eliam Kraiem's Sixteen Wounded, a credit that earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play that same year. His stage work extends well beyond Broadway, with appearances at prominent regional theaters including Steppenwolf, The Public, Long Wharf, and Berkeley Rep. His other theatrical credits include Richard Kalinoski's Beast on the Moon and Rajiv Joseph's Guards at the Taj. He also participated in the New York Arab-American Comedy Festival, contributing both as a performer and as a director.

On screen, Metwally has accumulated a substantial body of film work. His feature credits include Steven Spielberg's Munich (2005), Gavin Hood's Rendition (2007), Julian Schnabel's Miral (2010), James Ivory's The City of Your Final Destination, and Jaume Collet-Serra's Non-Stop (2014), in which he played Dr. Fahim Nasir. His television work includes the role of Dr. Vik Ullah in the Showtime drama series The Affair, Ernesto Santiago in the USA Network series Mr. Robot, Matt Edwards in the Bourne spin-off series Treadstone, Mark Lindor in the ABC drama series Big Sky, and Dr. Michael Hamda in the FOX series Doc.
