About

Oliver Savile is an English actor born on 8 July 1989 in Buxton, Derbyshire, who works primarily in musical theatre on stage and has also appeared in television and film. His father worked as a salesman and his mother was employed in the IT sector. An early encounter with theatre proved formative: attending a production of Blood Brothers at Buxton Opera House with his father prompted Savile to join a local drama group. He has navigated a career in performance while managing severe dyslexia. In 2007 he completed a BTEC course in Musical Theatre before enrolling at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, where he pursued a degree in musical theatre despite originally intending to study drama.

Savile was cast in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as one of the brothers before finishing his training in 2010. Following graduation he appeared at the Theatre Royal in Wakefield in Sleeping Beauty. In 2011 he joined the international tour of Mamma Mia! as an ensemble member and understudy for the role of Sky. The following year he played William/Peter Tork in Monkee Business, a musical based on The Monkees, and took on the role of Enjolras in Les Misérables at the Queen's Theatre, an engagement during which he once fell into the orchestra pit and landed on its safety net. In 2013 he played Rum Tum Tugger in Cats, and in 2014 he was an ensemble member and understudy for the role of Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera.

His West End debut came in 2016 when he was cast as Fiyero in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, coinciding with the production's tenth anniversary. In 2018 he portrayed Sir Hugo in Knights of the Rose and played Robert in Company. The following year he appeared as Whizzer in Falsettos at The Other Palace before joining the U.S. tour of Sting's musical The Last Ship as Gideon, a production that was later interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. That tour constitutes his Broadway-associated credit, with The Last Ship listed among his verified Broadway credits from 2020.

With theatrical work suspended during the pandemic and without an acting contract, Savile trained as a certified arborist and worked in garden maintenance. He returned to screen work in 2021, appearing as Luca in the television series Ted Lasso. His film credits include the role of Mike in Tomorrow Morning. In 2022 he played Frank-N-Furter in the European tour of The Rocky Horror Show and later that year performed the role of the Prince in a one-off concert of Emojiland in the United Kingdom. In 2023 he was cast as Frank in Annie Get Your Gun at the London Palladium and subsequently toured the United Kingdom as Edward Lewis in Pretty Woman. He reprised Frank-N-Furter for a second Swiss-Austrian-German tour of The Rocky Horror Show that ran from 2024 into 2025.

In September 2025 it was announced that Savile would play Cinderella's Prince and the Wolf in the London revival of Into the Woods at the Bridge Theatre, joining a cast that includes Katie Brayben as the Baker's Wife, Kate Fleetwood as the Witch, and Bella Brown as Rapunzel. In March 2026 he received a nomination for the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

In his personal life, Savile was in a relationship with fellow performer Melissa James, whom he met during the run of Cats. He later dated actress Sydnie Hocknell, with whom he worked on both Pretty Woman and The Rocky Horror Show. He is also a motorcycle enthusiast.
