About

Olive Redpath was a stage actress active during the Victorian era whose Broadway career spanned 1899 to 1900.

Among her Broadway credits, Redpath appeared in the musical extravaganza Mother Goose, which ran at Haverly's 14th Street Theatre from May 1 to May 13, 1899. In that production she took on the role of Little Jack Horner. She also appeared in Naughty Anthony, a comedy produced by David Belasco that ran from January 8, 1900 through March 1900 at the Herald Square Theatre, located at 1331 Broadway and 29 West 35th Street in Manhattan. In that production she played a character named Winnie, and newspaper reviews of the time noted her short frocks as a distinguishing element of her performance.

Prior to her Broadway appearances, Redpath was active on the stage in the late 1890s. In February 1898 she stepped into the title role of The French Maid, replacing an actress identified as Miss Sylvia. The following year, in January 1899, she performed in That Man, a farce staged at the Herald Square Theatre in which she played a character described as a grass widow — a divorcee — who appears in various disguises.
