About

Olga Cook Line, born around 1895 in New York City and died December 15, 1991, was an American actress, singer, and vaudeville performer whose career flourished primarily during the 1920s. The daughter of policeman and athlete Edward Cook and his wife Margaret A. Martin Cook, she attended Washington Irving High School before pursuing vocal training in New York under Francis Stuart.

Cook launched her professional life in vaudeville before transitioning to Broadway, where she appeared in productions between 1919 and 1924. Her Broadway credits included The Passing Show of 1919, The Midnight Rounders of 1921, and Blossom Time, in which she performed from 1921 to 1923, playing the role of Mitzi. She also appeared in The Passing Show of 1924. Beyond the stage, Cook extended her presence to radio broadcasts and appeared as herself in the short silent film Starland Review No. 4 in 1922.

In 1923, Cook returned to vaudeville and took a starring role in Gus Edwards' Sunbonnet Sue revue. That same year, the Washington Daily News praised her performing style, describing her as a thorough and deserving hit who delivered beautiful sounds without unnecessary theatrical affectation. The following year she performed in The Student Prince in Chicago in 1925, after which she announced a planned hiatus from the stage in 1926.

Her retirement proved brief. In 1927, Cook toured alongside pianist Eric Zardo and participated in a midnight benefit performance in New York City to aid victims of the Mississippi flood. In 1928, she starred as Barbara Fritchie in the operetta My Maryland during its productions in Philadelphia, New York, and Hartford. Her later public appearances included singing at a Daughters of the American Revolution memorial service at a battlefield on Mackinac Island in 1934.

In December 1925, Cook married G. Keith Line, described as a millionaire sportsman who owned horse stables and riding academies across Illinois, Michigan, and Florida. The couple resided in Chicago, where census records place them in both 1930 and 1940.
