About
Norman Budd (27 January 1914 – 10 September 2006) was a British-born actor who built a career across stage, film, and television in the United States. A native of Liverpool, England, Budd worked in American entertainment from the late 1930s through the early 1950s.
His stage career placed him on Broadway between 1937 and 1947, where he appeared in a range of productions spanning drama, comedy, and musical theater. Among his Broadway credits were the play Tobacco Road, Shakespeare's As You Like It, and The Secret of Suzanne. He also appeared in the comedy They Should Have Stood in Bed and the musical The Merry Widow Burlesque, along with additional productions during that decade.
Alongside his stage work, Budd pursued a screen career in American film. His film appearances included The Cave Dwellers in 1940, followed by a cluster of releases in the late 1940s and early 1950s: The Gamblers, The Judge, and The Red Menace, all in 1949, and Women from Headquarters in 1950. He continued appearing in films into the early 1950s, with credits including Million Dollar Pursuit in 1951, Tropical Heat Wave in 1952, and The Atomic City in 1952. He also worked in American television during this period.
