About

Noah Reid is a Canadian-American actor and musician born on May 29, 1987, in Toronto, Ontario. The son of visual artists, he was introduced to theatre around age six and attended productions regularly throughout his childhood. He trained at Etobicoke School of the Arts before graduating from the National Theatre School of Canada in 2008.

Reid began his career as a child actor, taking on extensive voice work for Canadian and American children's television. From 1997 to 2002, he originated the voice of the title character in the animated series Franklin. During his time at Etobicoke School of the Arts, he co-starred in Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, which ran from 2002 to 2006. In 2005, he portrayed Darrell Fox in the television film Terry, which dramatized Terry Fox's cross-country run for cancer research. Additional early television appearances included a 2007 episode of Naturally, Sadie and a 2009 guest role on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

His first leading role in a feature film came with Score: A Hockey Musical, in which he played Farley Gordon. The film premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. He subsequently appeared in guest roles on the police drama Rookie Blue in 2012 and the drama series Cracked in 2013, and starred in the CW web series Backpackers that same year. In 2015, he took the lead role in the ABC Family comedy series Kevin From Work, which was canceled after one season, and appeared briefly in the first episode of The Plateaus.

Reid starred in the 2015 feature film People Hold On, for which he received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Original Song in 2016. That year he also self-produced and released a full-length album, Songs From a Broken Chair. In 2017, he joined the CBC series Schitt's Creek in the recurring role of Patrick, beginning in the show's third season, and was promoted to series regular starting with the fourth season in 2018. His performance on the series earned him a Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy in 2019. Also in 2017, he appeared in the independent film Cardinals opposite Sheila McCarthy, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. In 2018, he performed in a production of Hamlet at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto. Two films, Buffaloed and Disappearance at Clifton Hill, were both released in February 2020.

Reid released his second album, Gemini, on May 29, 2020, following a North American tour that had been largely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The album's cover referenced his dual identity as a musician and actor through an image of a Gemini Award statuette. In April 2022, he made his Broadway debut by joining the original cast of Tracy Letts's The Minutes. He released his third album, Adjustments, in June 2022, and that same year appeared as a guest musician on Artefact, the debut album by Clever Hopes. A son was born to Reid and his wife in the late summer of 2022.

In 2024, Reid appeared in Murder in a Small Town and starred in the Coal Mine Theatre's production of Samuel D. Hunter's A Case for the Existence of God. He embarked on his Solo Sessions tour in the spring of 2025, performing without a band for the first time, and announced a 33-city tour of the United States and Canada scheduled for the fall of 2025.

Reid met his wife, former actress Clare Stone, on the set of Rookie Blue in 2012. He announced their engagement on December 31, 2018, and they married on July 25, 2020. Reid holds dual citizenship in Canada and the United States.
