About

Noah Egidi Galvin, born May 6, 1994, in Katonah, New York, is an American actor and singer whose work spans Broadway, television, film, and audio performance. His father, Austin, was of Irish and Italian Catholic descent, and his mother, Abbie (née Fink), is Jewish. Galvin was raised in both traditions, attending CCD, Hebrew School, and church, and has described himself as Jewish. He has two siblings, one of whom is the multi-instrumentalist known as Yoke Lore. His father died in November 2023 after having Lewy body dementia.

Before establishing himself on Broadway, Galvin built his stage foundation through extensive off-Broadway work with companies including Signature, Playwrights Horizons, MCC, The Public, The Culture Project, The Flea, The Wild Project, New York Theatre Workshop, Barrow Street Theater, Rattlestick, and Ensemble Studio Theater. Among those off-Broadway credits, he originated the role of the Duchess in the musical Alice by Heart. His Broadway career includes appearances in Les Misérables, Waitress, and Dear Evan Hansen.

Galvin became the second actor to perform the title role in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, taking over from Ben Platt on November 21, 2017, and playing his final performance in that role on February 4, 2018. He had been named a temporary replacement for the part in August 2017, following Platt's departure from the production. Galvin subsequently joined the Broadway cast of Waitress, playing Ogie from April 29, 2019, to August 18, 2019, at which point Todrick Hall assumed the role.

On February 17, 2020, Galvin appeared in Manhattan Concert Productions' one-night-only 50th anniversary concert presentation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Lincoln Center. In August 2024, it was announced that he would star alongside Beanie Feldstein and Kevin McHale in the Kennedy Center's production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, running October 11–20, 2024.

On television, Galvin starred as Kenny O'Neal in two seasons of the ABC sitcom The Real O'Neals before the show was cancelled in 2017. In 2020, he joined the fourth season of The Good Doctor in the recurring role of Dr. Asher Wolke, was promoted to series regular for its fifth season, and remained with the show through its seventh and final season, with his last episode airing on April 2, 2024.

In film, Galvin was part of the ensemble for Booksmart, the directorial debut of Olivia Wilde, which premiered at South by Southwest on March 10, 2019, and was released theatrically in the United States on May 24, 2019. He co-wrote the musical comedy film Theater Camp with Ben Platt, Molly Gordon, and Nick Lieberman, inspired by a 2020 short film of the same name. Theater Camp had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 2023, was acquired by Searchlight Pictures, and received a theatrical release beginning July 14, 2023, followed by a streaming release on Hulu and VOD on September 14, 2023. A soundtrack featuring original songs by Galvin, Platt, Gordon, and Lieberman was released by Interscope Records on the same day as the theatrical opening. For his portrayal of Glenn Winthrop in the film, Galvin received a nomination for Best Supporting Performance at the 39th Independent Spirit Awards. In December 2022, he starred alongside Amy Sedaris in Meet Cute's holiday romantic comedy Christmasuzannukkah.

Galvin's audio work includes narrating the character of Arthur in What If It's Us, a novel by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli, voicing Prince Rupert in the Gimlet podcast The Two Princes, released June 4, 2019, singing as Brian on the cast recording of the musical adaptation of Goosebumps, and recording audiobooks for Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Matthew Quick's Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock.

Galvin is gay and came out to his mother at age 14. He splits his time between Manhattan and Los Angeles. He began a relationship with Ben Platt on January 12, 2020; the two had first met in 2015, and Galvin later replaced Platt in Dear Evan Hansen in 2017. They announced their engagement on November 25, 2022, and were married on September 1, 2024, over Labor Day weekend.
