About

Nick Robinson is an American actor born on March 22, 1995, in Seattle, Washington. He has four younger siblings and attended Seattle Preparatory School before leaving during his freshman year to relocate to Los Angeles after securing a recurring television role. He later graduated from Campbell Hall School in 2013 and was accepted to New York University's College of Arts and Sciences, which he attended during the summer while continuing work on a television series.

Robinson made his professional acting debut at age eleven in a stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. He subsequently performed in a stage production of Mame. Following a recommendation from talent scout Matt Casella, he signed with the Los Angeles-based Savage Agency. The 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike prompted his family to return to Washington, where he continued performing on stage in and around Seattle.

In 2010, Robinson was cast as Ryder Scanlon, the nephew of Melissa Joan Hart's character, on the ABC Family sitcom Melissa & Joey, a role he held until the series was cancelled in 2015. During a hiatus from the show in 2011, he filmed the Disney Channel original movie Frenemies, in which he played Jake Logan; the film premiered in January 2012. He also guest-starred in the Boardwalk Empire episode "Blue Bell Boy" during the show's third season and appeared in a series of Cox Communications television commercials.

In 2012, Robinson was cast in the lead role of Joe Toy in Jordan Vogt-Roberts' The Kings of Summer. He also appeared in a supporting role in the 2015 adventure film Jurassic World, portraying Zach Mitchell. That same year, his film Being Charlie, a semi-autobiographical feature directed by Rob Reiner, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2016. Robinson played Ben Parish in The 5th Wave, released in January 2016, and starred as Olly in Everything, Everything in 2017, alongside a role in William H. Macy's comedy-drama Krystal that same year.

In 2018, Robinson took on the title role of Simon Spier in Love, Simon, a coming-of-age film recognized as the first major studio production centered on a gay teenage romance. His performance received critical acclaim. That year, Forbes included him on its "30 Under 30" list in the Hollywood and Entertainment category. Also in 2018, Robinson appeared on Broadway in To Kill a Mockingbird. In 2019, he co-starred in the third film adaptation of Richard Wright's Native Son.

Robinson's television work continued with the FX miniseries A Teacher in 2020, in which he co-starred, and he narrated responses and appeared in two episodes of Love, Victor, a Hulu spinoff series connected to Love, Simon. In 2021, he starred in the Netflix miniseries Maid alongside Margaret Qualley and Andie MacDowell.
