About
Among his television work, Saunders played Captain Barker on "The Phil Silvers Show" during the 1950s. Beginning in 1947, he served as a Russian-language announcer for Voice of America and later worked as a producer for Radio Liberty. From the 1980s onward, Saunders and partner Frank Dwyer translated dozens of plays from Russian into English, including works by Anton Chekhov.
