Nicholas L. Ashe

Nicholas L. Ashe is an American actor born on May 1, 1995, best known for his recurring role as Micah West on the drama series Queen Sugar and for his 2019 Broadway appearance in Choir Boy.

Ashe began his acting career in 2012 with a role on the final season of the television series Are We There Yet?. He subsequently appeared in Philly Lawyer and the comedy Songbyrd. His feature film debut came in 2016 with Custody, in which he starred alongside Viola Davis. That performance led directly to his casting as Micah West on Queen Sugar, the role for which he became most widely recognized. In 2017, Ashe expanded his work behind the camera by writing and directing his own short film, Last Looks.

His stage work brought him to Broadway in 2019, when he appeared in Choir Boy.

Beyond acting and directing, Ashe has spoken publicly about his personal life. He is queer and was in a relationship with actor Justice Smith beginning in 2020. Smith indicated in April 2021 that the two were no longer together, though they had reunited by later that year and appeared together in a Calvin Klein campaign video filmed in mid-2022.
