About
Nicholas Kepros (November 8, 1932 – January 26, 2023) was an American actor whose work spanned theatre, film, and television across a career of several decades. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he attended medical school at the University of Utah before pursuing a life in performance.
Kepros made his stage debut in 1958 in The Golden Six and went on to build an extensive Broadway career that stretched from 1960 to 1996. His theatrical credits included The Choir Rehearsal, The Inspector General, Timon of Athens, Saint Joan, and Execution of Justice, among other productions. On stage he also appeared in Peer Gynt, The White Rose and the Red, The Plough and the Stars, Henry IV Part 1, Henry IV Part 2, and Hamlet. His portrayal of Joseph II in the Broadway production of Amadeus earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play in 1981.
Beyond the stage, Kepros appeared in a number of film and television productions. His screen credits included the films Amadeus, Quiz Show, The Associate, and Identity Crisis. On television he appeared in The Golden Girls, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Equal Justice, and You Are There.
Kepros died on January 26, 2023, in New York City at the age of 90.
