About

Nicholas Guest, born Nicholas Haden-Guest on May 5, 1951, in New York City, is an American actor whose career has spanned film, television, voice work, and Broadway. He appeared on Broadway in 2018 in Network.

Guest was born to Peter Haden-Guest, a British United Nations diplomat who later held the title of 4th Baron Haden-Guest, and his second wife, Jean Pauline Hindes, who served as a former vice president of casting at CBS. His maternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Russia. On his father's side, his paternal grandfather, Leslie Haden-Guest, was a Labour Party politician and a convert to Judaism, while his paternal great-grandfather was Colonel Albert Goldsmid, a British officer who founded both the Jewish Lads' and Girls' Brigade and the Maccabaeans. Despite this heritage, both of Guest's parents were atheists and he had no religious upbringing. He spent portions of his childhood in the United Kingdom.

Guest is the brother of actor Christopher Guest and writer Elissa Haden Guest, the brother-in-law of actress Jamie Lee Curtis, and the half brother of British-American writer Anthony Haden-Guest. He married Jill Ellen Demby on May 11, 1980; the marriage ended in divorce in 1989, and together they had a daughter. On November 26, 1989, he married Pamela Ann Guest, née Seamon, an actress and casting director, with whom he had a second daughter.

Among his television roles, Guest played headmaster Patrick James Elliot in the teen sitcom USA High. Since 2000, he has worked primarily as a voice actor. He also appeared in the 1989 Aerosmith music video for "Janie's Got a Gun," in the role of the father.
