About

Nicholas Christopher (born August 16, 1990) is a Bermudian-American stage actor and singer whose Broadway career has spanned from 2009 to 2025. Born in Bermuda to a Bermudian father and an American mother, he relocated to the United States with his mother at age seven. He later enrolled at the Juilliard School before leaving to pursue performing opportunities, first gaining recognition as Benny in the inaugural United States touring production of In the Heights. He subsequently made his Off-Broadway debut playing Tom Collins in a revival of Rent.

Christopher's Broadway debut came in 2013 when he joined the ensemble of Motown: The Musical. He was later elevated to the role of Smokey Robinson in the show's national touring cast. In 2016, he entered the Broadway company of Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, taking over the role of George Washington from original cast member Christopher Jackson. After departing that production, he starred as John Thomas in the first Broadway revival of Miss Saigon at the Broadway Theatre from 2017 to 2018. He returned to Hamilton in 2018 to portray Aaron Burr on the show's national tour, then rejoined the Broadway cast in 2019 to reprise Washington. From August 2021 through March 2022, he played Burr in Hamilton's Los Angeles production at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Between August and October 2024, he returned to the Broadway cast of Hamilton for an additional stint as Washington, and in April 2025 he covered the role of Burr for a week in the Broadway production, filling in for Jared Dixon.

In 2023, Christopher returned to Broadway in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where he originated the role of Adolfo Pirelli and also understudied Josh Groban in the title role. Following Groban's departure, Christopher stepped into the role of Sweeney Todd from January 17 to February 8, 2024, bridging the tenures of Groban and Aaron Tveit. In March 2024, he took a leave from Sweeney Todd to portray Jelly Roll Morton in New York City Center's production of Jelly's Last Jam.

Outside of Broadway, Christopher starred as Seymour Krelborn opposite Sherie Rene Scott as Audrey in an Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre, running through February 2025. He is set to reprise the role of Seymour for a month in the same Off-Broadway production, with Madeline Brewer as Audrey, in August 2025.

Since October 2025, Christopher has starred as Anatoly Sergievsky in the first Broadway revival of Chess at the Imperial Theatre, opposite Tveit as Freddie and Lea Michele as Florence, with the production scheduled to run through June 14, 2026. In addition to his stage work, Christopher held a recurring role as David Sanders across all three seasons of the television series All Rise from 2020 to 2023.
