Nicholas Barasch

Nicholas Barasch is a New York-based actor whose Broadway career spans from 2009 to 2025. He is recognized for his Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award-nominated portrayal of Arpad Laszlo in She Loves Me and for playing Orpheus in the North American tour of Hadestown. He is also known for providing the singing voice of Austin in Season 4 of The Backyardigans.

Barasch, who is from South Salem, New York, made his Broadway debut in 2009 at age ten in West Side Story, where he played Kiddo. His performance of "Somewhere" was recorded on the production's cast album. Three years later, he originated the roles of Deputy and Master Nick Cricker in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, appearing alongside Stephanie J. Block and Chita Rivera.

In 2016, Barasch received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for his performance as Arpad Laszlo in She Loves Me, which began previews on February 19, 2016, and officially opened on March 17 of that year. That same year he received the Theatre World Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence. The production was filmed for PBS's Great Performances, and Barasch appears in that recorded version. In August 2021, he was cast as Orpheus in the North American tour of Hadestown, a role he held until June 2022. He subsequently starred in the world premiere of The Butcher Boy in 2022. From April to July 2025, Barasch played Frederic in the Broadway revival Pirates! The Penzance Musical.

His television work includes appearances on CBS's Bull and HBO's How to Make It in America, a recurring role as Julian Blossom on the CW series Riverdale, and a series regular position on Nickelodeon's The Backyardigans. Barasch is gay.
