About
Nichelle Lewis is an American actress and singer who grew up in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Her early involvement in her high school show choir, Capital Swing & Touch Of Swing, directed by Robyn Kim, included trips to New York City and brought her to the attention of theatrical professionals.
Lewis built her pre-Broadway career through regional and touring productions. Her national tour credits include Hairspray, in which she played Dynamite and Cindy Watkins, as well as Little Shop of Horrors, where she portrayed Chiffon and Crystal. Additional touring work includes Bare: A Pop Opera, in which she played Ivy, and a new musical titled Labelless.
In 2023, Lewis was announced as the lead in the Broadway revival of The Wiz, taking on the role of Dorothy and marking her Broadway debut. She subsequently appeared in the Broadway revival of Ragtime, in which she was cast as Sarah in October 2024. Her Broadway career spans 2024 to 2025, and her performance in The Wiz earned her a Theatre World Award in 2024.
