Niamh McGrady

Niamh McGrady is a film, stage, and television actress born on 4 October 1982 in Castlewellan, County Down, Northern Ireland. She attended Assumption Grammar School in Ballynahinch, County Down, and from the age of 18 trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

Following her graduation, McGrady secured a role in Italy in the summer of 2003, after which she joined a Welsh production of Romeo and Juliet. She subsequently appeared in pantomime in Belfast before relocating to London to take part in Girls & Dolls, a production by Northern Irish playwright Lisa McGee. Her stage work continued with a production of Shakespeare's Macbeth featuring Patrick Stewart, which completed a critically acclaimed run in London's West End before transferring to Broadway in New York City in 2008.

Upon returning to London, McGrady was cast in the George Best biopic Best: His Mother's Son in 2009, though her scenes were ultimately cut during editing. She then joined the cast of the medical drama Holby City in a semi-regular capacity, playing nurse Mary-Claire Carter. During this period she continued to appear in short independent films, largely in uncredited roles. She was later cast in The Fall, a crime drama series set in Northern Ireland, alongside Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, in which she played PC Danielle Ferrington.

McGrady rejoined Holby City in 2013 as a full regular cast member, a development that allowed her to leave her part-time waitressing and bar work. She departed the series in early 2015, with her exit scenes airing in April of that year, coinciding with the departure of Jules Knight.
