About

Natalie Alt, born Natalie Altman on September 30, 1890, and who died on August 10, 1959, was an American actress and singer whose Broadway career spanned the 1910s.

Alt's stage work began with an appearance in Little Nemo in 1909, billed at that time as Natalie Alte. She followed that with When Sweet Sixteen in 1910 and then Jumping Jupiter in 1911. Her credits from this period also include The Fascinating Widow, London Follies, The Balky Princess, and The Lamb of Delft. In 1913 she appeared in Adele.

Among her most prominent credits was a starring role in The Sorcerer, part of a 1915 season that also saw her appear in revivals of The Mikado and The Yeomen of the Guard. That same year she performed in the musical The Girl Who Smiles. Come to Bohemia followed in 1916, and her final verified Broadway appearance came in 1917 with The Grass Widow, the same year a San Francisco Examiner photographer featured her image in that publication.

During her run in The Quaker Girl in 1912, Alt attracted press attention across multiple cities. Newspapers in Richmond, Atlanta, and Los Angeles each ran coverage of her that year, with the Los Angeles Times noting details of her daily routine on tour. A 1931 item in the Chicago Sunday Tribune reported that Alt was set to be featured in a new musical production, indicating continued professional activity beyond her Broadway years.
