About
Maneepat Myra Molloy is a Thai-American actress, singer, and songwriter born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand to a Thai mother and an American father. She has a younger sister named Nina. From an early age, Molloy traveled frequently to New York City, where she developed a deep interest in musical theatre, attending performances of The Phantom of the Opera multiple times on $26 standing-room tickets.
Molloy began studying violin at age five before transitioning to viola, and she participated in her school orchestra as well as senior and chamber choirs. At age nine, she became the first vocal scholar at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok. In 2006, at age eight, she sang in the children's choir for the Bangkok Opera production of Ayodhya by Somtow Sucharitkul. Her competitive career began in 2011 at age thirteen, when she entered the inaugural season of Thailand's Got Talent, performing "Time to Say Goodbye," "Think of Me," "Pie Jesu," and the Thai pop song "Star." She won the competition, and the founder of Bangkok Grand Opera has stated that he launched his production company in response to the heightened public interest in Western classical music generated by her performances. Following that victory, Molloy performed regularly with the Siam Sinfonietta Orchestra and Bangkok Opera, and has sung at events including the Thai National Film Awards, the British Embassy Celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's birthday, and the Asia-Pacific ICT Awards, as well as corporate events for companies including Rolls-Royce, Samsung, Johnson & Johnson, and Shiseido.
In 2012, Molloy took on her first major theatrical role, playing the young Reya in the sold-out production of Reya the Musical, based on a work of Thai fiction by Thaitao Sucharitkul with music by Somtow Sucharitkul. That same year she played Tiger in A Boy and a Tiger by Bruce Gaston at Impact Arena. In 2014, at age sixteen, she placed sixth in Season 1 of Rising Star on ABC, and released recordings on Capitol Records that year including covers of "Chandelier," "Your Song," "Stars," "Gravity," and "Time to Say Goodbye." In 2016, she played Lucy in the Bangkok theatrical production of Dracula, Blood is Life and appeared in The 33 Gods, an opera by Somtow Sucharitkul. That same year she was cast as Wish in HBO Asia's original series Halfworlds II, for which she also co-wrote and performed several songs. Also in 2016, she provided the speaking and singing voice of Moana in the Thai-language version of the Walt Disney Studios animated film, a role she reprised in the 2024 sequel Moana 2.
Molloy graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where she majored in singing and songwriting on a merit scholarship. She has performed in Paris, China, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States, singing in English, Thai, Chinese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Latin.
Her Broadway-adjacent career began with the 2018–19 US national tour of Miss Saigon, in which she served as the alternate for the role of Kim. On screen, she appeared in the Freeform series The Bold Type and in the 2021 Netflix film He's All That. On April 1, 2025, Molloy was announced as the first Thai person cast in a leading role in a Broadway musical, taking on the role of Eurydice in Hadestown at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York. She began her run on May 6, 2025, marking her Broadway debut. Her engagement in the production ran through August 2025.
