Myra Lucretia Taylor

Myra Lucretia Taylor is an American actress and singer born on July 9, 1960, in Fort Motte, South Carolina. Her Broadway career spans more than three decades, from 1988 to 2019, encompassing a range of productions across drama and musical theater.

Taylor made her Broadway debut in the 1988 production of A Streetcar Named Desire. That same year, she made her screen debut in the comedy film Crossing Delancey. Her subsequent stage credits include Mule Bone, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Electra, Macbeth, and Nine. Beyond Broadway, Taylor performed in national tours of South Pacific and Wicked.

Her most prominent Broadway role came with Tina, the 2019 musical, in which she played Gran Georgeanna. The performance earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical in 2020. Her work also garnered a Drama Desk Award nomination, as well as nominations from the Outer Critics Circle and the Lucille Lortel Awards.

Taylor's film work includes appearances in The Paper (1994), Everyone Says I Love You (1996), and Music of the Heart (1999). Her television credits span multiple decades and include Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Girls, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Hunters, Atlanta, and Defending Jacob.
