About

Myles Frost is an American actor, singer, songwriter, music producer, and dancer born on July 21, 1999, in Silver Spring, Maryland. He spent his early years moving between Maryland and Washington, D.C., raised by his mother, Charmayne Strayhorn, a systems engineer, and his grandmother, a school teacher. Frost developed an interest in golf at age three and began playing piano at age five. During his childhood he sang and played piano and drums at church, and in middle school he performed with an R&B cover band at local shopping centers.

While a student at Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, Frost appeared in school productions of Hairspray, in which he played Seaweed, Legally Blonde, in which he played Warner, and Cinderella, in which he played Lord Pinkleton. In 2017, still in high school, he competed on The Voice but was not selected by any of the coaches to advance in the competition. After graduating, he enrolled at Belmont University in Nashville, where he studied music technology for two years before transferring to Bowie State University as an audio engineering major.

Frost left Bowie State when he was cast as Michael Jackson in the Broadway production of MJ the Musical. He came to the production's attention after Ephraim Sykes departed the show late in its development, prompting producers to conduct a broad search for a replacement. After auditioning many established actors without success, the production team discovered a YouTube video of Frost performing "Billie Jean" at a high school talent show, which led to an audition and ultimately his being cast in the role. MJ marked his Broadway debut in 2022.

His performance earned him the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical in 2022, as well as a Theatre World Award the same year. He is the youngest solo recipient of the Tony Award in the Best Actor in a Musical category, a record previously held by Ben Platt. The cast recording of MJ the Musical also earned Frost a Grammy Award nomination. He departed the Broadway production on April 2, 2023, and was succeeded by Elijah Johnson of Mindless Behavior on April 4, 2023.

Frost subsequently reprised the role of Michael Jackson in the West End production of MJ the Musical, which opened on March 27, 2024. He remained with that production until January 11, 2025, when Jamaal Fields-Green took over the role on January 14, 2025.
