About

Montego Glover is an American stage actress and singer born on February 9, 1974, in Macon, Georgia, and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She attended the Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences before enrolling at Florida State University in Tallahassee, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre with Honors. From an early age, Glover sang in church choirs, a foundation that preceded her professional career on Broadway and beyond.

Glover made her Broadway debut as an understudy for the roles of Celie and Nettie in The Color Purple. She went on to originate the role of Felicia in Memphis, a production she had followed through four regional stagings before it reached Broadway. Her performance earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, the latter shared with Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2010. She also appears in the filmed recording Memphis: Direct from Broadway, released on April 28, 2011.

On September 1, 2015, Glover joined the second Broadway revival of Les Misérables as Fantine, remaining with the production until February 3, 2016. That same year she received the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. From September 9, 2017, through March 31, 2019, she portrayed Angelica Schuyler in the Chicago company of Hamilton.

Glover shared the role of the Witch with Patina Miller in the 2022 Broadway revival of Into the Woods, beginning September 6, 2022, and departing December 15, 2022, when she was succeeded by Joaquina Kalukango. She subsequently reprised the role in the 2023 national tour of the production. Glover also appeared on Broadway in It Shoulda Been You, and starred as Rose in Gypsy, alternating in the role with Audra McDonald from June through August 2025.

Beyond the stage, Glover worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in the late 1990s, and her voice is featured on the Festival of the Lion King official soundtrack. She has served as a Star Wars video game avatar and a television commercial voice-over artist. Her screen credits include a guest appearance on the USA Network series White Collar in the episode "Judgement Day" and a role in the television show Made in Jersey, which aired on December 1, 2012.
