Frome's screen career began with the 1934 short subject Daredevil O'Dare, after which he did not appear on film again until 1939, when he took the role of Oliver Sheahe in Ride 'Em Cowgirl. His acting work remained sporadic until 1950, when he began securing consistent television roles on programs including I Love Lucy, Adventures of Superman, and Lassie.
