About
Milly Shapiro is an American actress and singer whose Broadway debut came in 2013 with the production of Matilda the Musical. That same year, Shapiro received a Tony Honor for Excellence in Theatre, an honorary Tony Award she shared with fellow cast members Sophia Gennusa, Bailey Ryon, and Oona Laurence. The recognition made Shapiro the youngest recipient of the award in history. Also in 2013, she received a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Musical Theater Album for the cast recording of Matilda.
Beyond the stage, Shapiro appeared in the 2018 horror film Hereditary. In 2021, she and Spencer Arjang co-created a band called AFTERxCLASS.
Shapiro is the younger sister of Abi Monterey, an actress and stuntwoman. The two siblings perform together under the name the Shapiro Sisters. Shapiro, her sister, and her mother all share the condition cleidocranial dysostosis. Shapiro came out as a lesbian in June 2021.
