About

Michael Feast is an English actor born on 25 November 1946 in Brighton, where he was raised before training at the Central School of Speech and Drama. He made his Broadway appearance in 2008 in Macbeth.

Feast's stage career began in earnest with the original 1968 London production of Hair, for which he was part of the cast recording. His theatre work in the following decade was concentrated at the Royal Exchange in Manchester, where he took on a range of classical and contemporary roles across a single prolific year in 1977. These included Nicholas Beckett in Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw, directed by Braham Murray; Henry in Thornton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth, directed by Richard Negri and James Maxwell; Telegin in Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, directed by Michael Elliott; and Roland Maule in Noël Coward's Present Laughter, directed by James Maxwell. He returned to the Royal Exchange in 1984 to play Billy Bigelow in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel, directed by Steven Pimlott, and again in 1987 to play Subtle in Ben Jonson's The Alchemist, directed by Greg Hersov. Feast also worked with John Gielgud on multiple occasions and later portrayed him in Nicolas de Jongh's biographical play Plague Over England.

His film work spans more than four decades, beginning with I Start Counting in 1970 and Private Road in 1971. Subsequent film appearances include Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972), Got It Made (1974), Hardcore (1977), The Music Machine (1979), McVicar (1980), The Draughtsman's Contract (1982), The Fool (1990), Velvet Goldmine (1998), Prometheus (1998), The Tribe (1998), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Long Time Dead (2002), Boudica (2003), Penelope (2006), The Deaths of Ian Stone (2007), and There Be Dragons (2011). On television, Feast had a significant role in the series State of Play and played Aeron Greyjoy in the sixth season of the HBO series Game of Thrones.
