Melanie Moore

Melanie Moore is an American dancer and actress born on September 17, 1991, in Marietta, Georgia. She is best known as the winner of the eighth season of the U.S. reality television competition So You Think You Can Dance, where she captured first place with 47% of the vote in a four-way final.

Moore grew up in Marietta, where she attended Lassiter High School and was crowned homecoming queen. She trained and competed for twelve years at Centre Stage School of Dance before continuing her training at Rhythm Dance Center, also in Marietta. In 2010, she won the National JUMP Senior Female VIP award. At the time of her So You Think You Can Dance victory, Moore was a 19-year-old college freshman enrolled at Fordham University at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Following her competition win, Moore appeared on the Oxygen network series All the Right Moves as a member of the Shaping Sound Dance Company. She also had a recurring presence on the fourth season of Glee, portraying a dance pupil attending NYADA.

Moore's Broadway career spans from 2015 to 2022 across four productions. She originated the role of Peter Pan in Finding Neverland at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in 2015, earning a nomination for the Fred and Adele Astaire Award for Best Female Dancer. That same year, she joined the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof in the role of Chava, remaining with the production until it closed on December 31, 2016. Moore then appeared as Ermengarde in the 2017 Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly!, continuing in the role through the production's closing in August 2018. In 2022, she joined the touring cast of To Kill a Mockingbird, playing Scout Finch opposite Richard Thomas.
