About

Meghan Picerno is an American actress and coloratura soprano who works across both opera and musical theatre. She studied music at Illinois Wesleyan University before earning a Master of Music in voice from the Manhattan School of Music.

Picerno launched her career in the opera world, accumulating a range of classical credits before transitioning to musical theatre. In 2012, she participated in the "I Sing Beijing" program, performing at the National Center for the Performing Arts in the People's Republic of China and appearing on China Central Television, where she performed George Gershwin's "It Ain't Necessarily So" alongside tenor Jamez McCorkle and tenor Lucas van Lierop. Her operatic work includes the role of La fée from Massenet's Cendrillon in Montreal, as well as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at both Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. In 2015, she reached the quarterfinal round of Plácido Domingo's Operalia International Vocal Competition, and she also earned the top prize at the Arkadi International Vocal Competition at New York Lyric Opera.

Picerno's first foray into musical theatre came through New York City Opera's 2017 production of Leonard Bernstein's Candide, directed by Hal Prince, in which she played Cunégonde. Prince subsequently cast her as Christine Daaé in the U.S. Premiere and First National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies, the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. She later reprised the role in the second world tour of The Phantom of the Opera in 2019, and that same year transferred to the Broadway production, making her Broadway debut in the role. Following the Broadway production's reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, Picerno performed her final show as Christine Daaé on January 23, 2022, concluding a five-year association with the character across multiple productions.
