About
Megan L. Dodds, born February 15, 1970, in Sacramento, California, is an American actress whose career has spanned stage, television, and film on both sides of the Atlantic. After graduating from Roseville High School in 1988, she briefly attended a community college, where she was cast as Bananas in John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves. She subsequently trained at the Juilliard School's Drama Division as a member of Group 24, completing four years of study between 1991 and 1995.
Dodds made her Broadway appearance in 1995 in the play The School for Scandal. Two years later, she relocated to London to star in British comedian Ben Elton's play Popcorn. Her move to England became permanent after she met fashion and advertising photographer Oliver J. Pearce; the two married in Droitwich, Worcestershire in 1998, and their daughter was born in 2001.
Her London stage work includes a role in Up for Grabs at Wyndham's Theatre in 2006, in which she played a technology entrepreneur opposite Madonna, who portrayed the seductress Mindy. That same year, Dodds performed the one-woman show My Name Is Rachel Corrie, centered on an activist killed during a 2003 demonstration in Gaza. The production earned her the London Theatregoers' Choice Award for Best Actress in 2007. A planned staging of the show at the New York Theatre Workshop had previously been cancelled in 2005.
On television, Dodds appeared in the BBC series Spooks from 2002 to 2004, known in the United States as MI-5, as well as in Love in a Cold Climate in 2001 and Viva Blackpool. In 2006, she joined the first series of the BBC One sitcom Not Going Out, playing Kate, the flatmate of lead character Lee Mack, alongside Tim Vine, before departing after that initial series. Her American television credits include appearances in House, Detroit 1-8-7, and CSI: NY.
Among her film roles, Dodds portrayed Marguerite, a stepsister to Cinderella, in the 1998 romance Ever After. Additional film credits include The Contract and Chatroom, as well as the indie fantasy film Wonderwell, directed by Vlad Marsavin.
