Matilda Lawler

Matilda Lawler is an American actress whose work spans stage, film, and television. Her parents, Matthew and Mara Lawler (née Demey), are both actors. Her first experience performing came during the first grade, when she appeared in a stage production of Jack and Annie at Hoboken Children's Theater.

Lawler made her Broadway debut in The Ferryman in 2018. Prior to that, in 2017, she performed in the play The Net Will Appear, taking on the role of a nine-year-old who forms a friendship with a 70-year-old character. The actor Richard Masur, who played that older character, became both a mentor and close friend to Lawler, and she later drew on their real relationship to inform her emotional work in the HBO Max miniseries Station Eleven.

Among her most prominent screen credits are the Disney+ film Flora & Ulysses, in which she played the lead role of Flora, the HBO Max miniseries Station Eleven, and the HBO series It: Welcome to Derry. In 2022, she joined the main cast of the Disney+ limited series The Santa Clauses. Her performance in Station Eleven earned her a nomination for a Gotham Award, an Emmy Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
