Mathilde Baring, born Mathilde Hoffeldt in New Orleans, Louisiana, was an American actress whose career spanned both stage and screen. The daughter of Henry Hoffeldt and Mathilde Gessler, she pursued her education at Tulane University before entering the acting profession under the name Mathilde Baring.
Baring built her career across two distinct performance mediums, working in Hollywood during the silent film era as well as establishing a sustained presence on the Broadway stage. Her Broadway career extended from 1925 to 1945 and encompassed a range of productions, including the plays As Husbands Go, Shooting Star, A Tale of the Wolf, Girls in Uniform, and Ragged Army, among others.
In her personal life, Baring was married to Lauren Lamon. The couple had one daughter, Isabel Lamon, who also pursued a career as an actress.
