Maryke Hendrikse (pronounced mə-RAY-kə) is a Canadian voice actress and Broadway performer born on February 23, 1979, in Nassau, Bahamas. At approximately two and a half years old, she relocated with her family to Canada, settling in Toronto. She holds the distinction of being the first graduate of the alternative high school program Interact.
Hendrikse made her Broadway appearance in 1992 in Aspects of Love. Her stage work preceded a career in voice acting that would come to span anime, animated television series, feature films, and video games.
In the realm of anime dubbing, Hendrikse is best known for voicing Revy in Black Lagoon and Lunamaria Hawke in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, a role she reprised in the video games Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 and Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3. Additional anime credits include Wang Liu Mei in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Kei Kuruma in Project ARMS, Bubbles and Arturo in Powerpuff Girls Z, Tabby in .hack//Roots, Sekimi Nowake in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Anetta in MegaMan NT Warrior, among others.
Her non-anime television work is equally extensive. She is recognized for playing Susan Test in Johnny Test, a role for which she received the 2008 Elan Award for Best Female Voice Over in an Animated Feature or TV Production. She voiced Gilda in two episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, appearing in both 2010 and 2015, and portrayed Sonata Dusk in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Sunset's Backstage Pass. Her television credits further include Yasmin in the second season of Bratz, Echo in Class of the Titans, Chamille in Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, Ava Prentis and Brickney Spears in Lego Nexo Knights, Kate and Boomer in Kate & Mim-Mim, Bree Bunny and Twist Bunny in Enchantimals, and Dana Por in Slugterra, among numerous others.
Hendrikse has voiced Yasmin across multiple Bratz animated films, including Bratz Babyz: The Movie, Bratz Fashion Pixiez, Bratz Girlz Really Rock, Bratz Super Babyz, Bratz Babyz Save Christmas, Bratz: Pampered Petz, and Bratz: Desert Jewelz. Additional film credits include Melody in Barbie and the Diamond Castle, Princess Catania in Barbie: Mariposa and the Fairy Princess, Hadley in both Barbie in A Mermaid Tale and its 2012 sequel, Marlo in Barbie: Dolphin Magic, and Brights Brightly in My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow and My Little Pony: A Very Pony Place. She also contributed voices to Sausage Party in 2016.
In video games, her credits include Lucia the Watilla and Sam Gilmore in Dreamfall: The Longest Journey and Sarisse in Dragalia Lost. Hendrikse pursued academic studies alongside her performance career, graduating from Douglas College in 2010 with a Child and Youth Care diploma. She achieved a GPA of 4.15 out of 4.33, earning her a Governor General's Bronze Medal.
