About
Mary Faber is an American actress born on August 8, 1979, in Greenville, South Carolina. A graduate of Brandeis University, she built a career spanning Broadway, off-Broadway, television, and film.
Faber entered Broadway on December 26, 2005, stepping into Avenue Q as a replacement for Stephanie D'Abruzzo in the dual roles of Kate Monster and Lucy T. Slut. During her tenure with that production, she took a leave of absence beginning October 30, 2006, to appear as Clea in Playwrights Horizons' Floyd and Clea Under the Western Sky, returning to Avenue Q on December 19, 2006. Her final performance in the show was October 9, 2008. Prior to her Broadway work, Faber contributed to the development of the character Natalie in Feeling Electric, the production that was later redeveloped into the Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal.
Faber originated the role of Heather in American Idiot during the musical's development at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and carried the role through the production's Broadway opening, remaining with the show until December 12, 2010. She then joined the 2011 Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as Smitty, performing alongside Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette from the production's opening through February 26, 2012. Her additional Broadway credits include The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Hair, and Chess.
Off-Broadway, Faber appeared in Saved! at Playwrights Horizons, as well as Slut and The Tutor. She also worked in the Theatreworks musical Junie B. Jones. In 2025, she returned to the stage at New York City Center in Bat Boy: The Musical, playing the role of Lorraine.
On television, Faber held a recurring role on Parks and Recreation as Pawnee restaurant lobbyist Kathryn Pinewood and made guest appearances on Nurse Jackie and The Good Wife. In her personal life, she married musician Gabe Witcher, a member of the Punch Brothers, in 2013.
