Martin Shakar is an American actor working in theatre, film, and television, born on January 1, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan. He comes from an Armenian/Assyrian family with roots in Adıyaman, Turkey, and has made his home in Brooklyn, New York.

Shakar's stage career spans more than three decades on Broadway, with credits ranging from 1969 to 2002. His Broadway appearances include the drama Our Town, In the Night Watch, and Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers. A life member of The Actors Studio, he has also taken part in numerous off-Broadway productions throughout his career.

On screen, Shakar has accumulated credits in 15 films since 1976. Among his most recognized film work is his portrayal of Frank Manero, Jr. in Saturday Night Fever, in which he played the older brother of John Travolta's character Tony Manero. His television work includes four appearances on The Equalizer and three appearances on Law & Order, each time playing different characters. He has additionally appeared in a number of television commercials, frequently cast in Italian or Arab roles.
