About
Martin William Huston (February 8, 1941 – August 8, 2001) was an American actor who worked in television, radio, and theatre over the course of a career spanning several decades. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, he relocated with his family to New York, where he later attended Columbia University.
Huston's professional career began in 1951, when he appeared in the anthology television series Lux Video Theatre. Two years later, in 1953, he took on the title role in My Son Jeep, a sitcom that aired on both radio and television. His television work continued through the mid-1950s, when he starred as Skipper in Jungle Jim, a role he held from 1955 to 1956. He also appeared in two additional television series, Too Young to Go Steady and Diagnosis: Unknown.
Huston made his Broadway debut in 1959 in Only in America. Over the following decade, he accumulated additional stage credits, appearing in Come Blow Your Horn, Take Her, She's Mine, and A Race of Hairy Men! His final Broadway appearance came in 1970, when he played the title role in Norman, Is That You?
Huston died on August 8, 2001, of cancer in Manhattan, New York, at the age of 60.
