About
Marki Bey is an American actress born on March 1, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She built her career across stage, film, and television, with Broadway appearances spanning from 1964 to 1972.
Bey's stage work included productions of Hello, Dolly! and Lost in the Stars. Her transition to film began in 1970 with The Landlord, in which she played the character Lanie, and continued through five film appearances over the following four years. She took a role in Class of '74 in 1972 and The Roommates in 1973. Her most recognized screen performance came in 1974, when she portrayed Diana "Sugar" Hill in the horror blaxploitation zombie film Sugar Hill. That same year she also appeared in Hangup, released under the alternate title Super Dude, playing a character named Julie.
Following her film work, Bey shifted her focus to television. She appeared in The Rookies and Bronk in 1975, then in 1977 had roles in Baretta, Charlie's Angels, and Switch. Her television work extended into the late 1970s with appearances on Starsky and Hutch from 1977 to 1979 and Trapper John, M.D. in 1979.
On April 30, 1974, Bey married Don Fenwick, an actor. After retiring from acting, she and her husband established Murder Mystery Cruises, a business they have operated in Los Angeles, California. Bey is also an avid stamp collector.
